Sicily is a fertile ground for fine pastry chefs and Brisbane has been especially enriched by one particular family that all on its own, created a significant migration spike.
All four Gerbino brothers work in the shop called Gerbinos in Brunswick Street, the Valley, as do plenty of their relatives.
"I guess that's what happens when you marry into an Italian family."
They produce an amazing array of buscuits and the house specialty is Canoli which is very popular among the local Italian population.
"If they miss Canoli, I give it to them and they're really happy."
The array of tasty treats will be available for sampling at the upcoming Italian festival at New Farm Park on Sunday, June 4.
