MAGNETIC WASHING - Monday 28 August 2006

by the Extra Team

With four kids under the roof, mum Donna seems to be forever washing.

"I could wash every day if I had to, there's always something to wash," said Mum Donna Horin.

By shopping smart, she still only spends about $50 a year on detergent. Mum Leanne Walker, on the other hand, doesn't spend a cent. All thanks to two balls, which are actually magnets.

Craig Hull from the Life Miracle Magnetic Laundry System explains.

"They discovered in the 1950s that detergent altered the solvency of water which is all detergent does. And magnet do the same job, but without chemicals."
Mum Leanne also believes the magnetic balls can soften your clothes but while they can shift some stains, she still uses chemicals on whites; and on occassions, also uses pre-soak stain remover.

But At $79.95, Donna Horin isn't sold. Testing the balls, her clothes came out clean but not all stains were lifted.

"At this stage I'm happy enough to look around for detergent that suits my budget and gets the clothes clean, and smells fresh."
