GYM TRANSFERS - Thursday 10 May 2007

by Nicole Madigan

Many of us want to get fit and in many cases hitting the gym seems like the best way to go.

But often it doesn't work out that way, with reasons popping up, preventing us from fulfillling a 12 month membership.

All isn't lost though, with a new website up and running, allowing you to sell remaining memberships.

Kate Fitzpatrick no longer wanted her gym membership after she moved suburbs so she decided to try transfermymembership.com.

It's the creation of personal trainer Ryan O'Neal .

"It centralises everything and helps build a professional ad for everyone using it."

It's important to make sure your gym allows transfers before you register your membership.

We did a quick ring around to some of the more common gyms on the website - all allowed transfers, but all charged a fee, ranging from $40 to $75.

But Cherrie Daley from the Queensland Consumers Association warns those taking out someone elses contract to read it first.
