NAPPY TEST - Wednesday 11 June 2008

by Lauren Reilly

Most parents agree, when it comes to choosing the right disposable nappy for the light of their life it's a difficult decision.

"It's really hard to know which one to try and you don't want to buy a whole package and then you don't really like them," Mum Loren Busse said.

But thanks to Danelle Perrins and the team and Bubhub, the nappy aisle confusion could soon subside.

"Over 40,000 people have looked and researched into nappies in our review section, " Danelle said.

The hugely popular Huggies brand as well as Snugglers rated highly...but surprising, some cheaper varieties also received rave reviews.

However according to Danelle, what works for one parent, will often not work for the next. So with the help of three mums, we've decided to conduct our own survey based on six readily available brands.

Here are the results based on price, absorbency and leakage.

Coming in at number six with two stars is the most expensive nappy, Baby Love.

"Kate was wet and Jack was also soaking wet in the morning which I've never really had happen, " Mum Jodie Ryan said.

At number five with three stars is another surprising result - Snugglers

"Jack did wake up during the night when he was in Snuggler, " Jodie said.

The great news for those on a budget is Coles and Homebrand nappies both scored three-and-a-half stars.

"They do the job, the walls are perfect, I can't fault them, " Mum Loren Busse said.

Coming second with four stars is Huggies. A brand Mum's Loran and Jodie have used since their bubs were born.

And at number one with four-and-a-half stars, based on cost, absorbency and leakage is the Aldi brand, Mamia.

"I had no problems overnight," Jodie said.

"It was definitely the better one, " Mum Ellissa Lauder said.

And at just 32cents per nappy, compared to 50cents for Baby Love, the possible savings in the weekly grocery bill are huge.
