KIDS CAFES - Saturday 21 June 2008

Do you remember the last time you caught up with friends over a cup of coffee?

If the answer is no, chances are you're the parent of little children.

But things have changed...

Child friendly cafes are popping up around the southeast, keeping the kids entertained while giving you the chance to have a well earned break.

Mum of two, Nicole Clements regularly heads to Café Mama at Windsor to get together with her girlfriends.

“It's great to be able to come to a place where you can just talk and the kids can be sitting in their little play area and we can relax and actually have a conversation - a normal adult conversation without the kids budding in every two seconds,” says Nicole.

At Café Mama you can grab a coffee or have a meal, while the kids play in a designated area or roam around the café.

If the kids have plenty of energy to burn, you might want to head to Crazy Critters Café at Forest Lake.

With slides and ladders, jumping castles and lots of play areas - the kids are well catered for.

This of course leaves plenty of time for parents to grab a coffee, a bite to eat or just catch up with their mates.

At both Crazy Critters Café and Cafe Mama it is up to parents to keep an eye on their kids, but the cafes are designed to make that very easy.

Breathing Space at Indooroopilly takes things one step further!

For a couple of dollars, Blue Card qualified child minders will entertain the kids, while parents take a break. And like most child-friendly cafes, you'll also find child friendly menus - complete with Baby-chinos.

So if it’s a break you want and the kids want to break-out and have some fun, it’s good to know there are places that cater for you both.
