SHEEP POTION - Monday 14 May 2001

The wool grease, or lanolin as it's properly called, is a by-product of the scouring process. It is also the best when it's from Aussie sheep.

A Gold Coast man has launched what can only be described as a wonder product and it is now being promoted as more than just an additive to pharmaceutical skincare products. Gary Brough found a way to convert the greasy wool wax into a wonder product, which will reduce irritation and rashes and protect our skin.

Gary, a New Zealand woolgrower, recognised the special properties of this substance after seeing the results of woolshed floors having fleece dragged over them for decades.

Nature needed some help with applying the lanolin, so the spray version was invented. "By liquifying the grease, you can use it as a spray or aerosol, which makes it very easy to apply to any surface - leather, wood - anything at all."

Even Gold Coast boatbuilder, Gary Doombos, is protecting canopy clips with Lanoguard – and for the boaties, no need for antifoul on the hulls any more… Just put grease on and you don't get any growth."

Lanoguard Protective Lubricant is available in selected hardware stores across southeast Queensland. Or order it through Gary Brough or John Knight.
