Advertising is everywhere, so much so it has to be something a little out of the ordinary to catch your eye and make you think about the product.
Welcome to the latest idea in the marketing game which also allows you to cash in.
Simon Nash of Designdriven believes
"It's a great way to get the message out or the advertiser's message out onto the streets where cars and pedestrians can see it."
Simon is one of the driving forces behind Designdriven. The concept basically calls on members of the public to offer their car up as a billboard on wheels. You don't have to do anything apart from having your car covered in a vinyl advertisement, but you do rake in the cash.
"They get paid between $400-$500 a month to just go about their normal day to day activities and just carrying the brand, and advertisers brand on their car."
Already there are about ten cars nationwide with an "added" finish and about another two thousand in line. The first ones in Brisbane should be on the streets within a month, but the company is keen to hear from anyone wanting to get involved.
Simon says they're looking for people who drive at least two hundred kilometres a week, or their car spends a good deal of time parked in a prominent place.
It's a concept which has advertising agencies ready to buckle up. Each car involved will have a tracking device, so they'll be able to check how far they've been driven and who has likely to have been exposed to the advertising.
Only about 20-30% of people who apply will actually have cars worthy of being a billboard on wheels. They have to be fairly new or at least in mint condition
If you are picked, the car will be able to pay for itself, if not in repayments then at least it'll go a long way towards coping with the ever-increasing fuel bills....that's of course if you're game enough to do it!
